Online tutoring gives kids the chance to learn at their own pace and in a way that matches their learning style. Teens are often too shy to put their hand up in class - especially if they're struggling. The reassurance of one-to-one tutoring means they can ask all the questions they want, and go over topics as much as they need until they get it.
One-to-one tutoring lets kids unleash their potential. Worried about learning gaps? We'll fill them in. No tutors in your area? We've got you covered. No academic confidence? No problem. Whatever your child needs help with, their tutor will guide them through tricky topics and boost their self-belief. With the personalised one-to-one support from their tutor, your child can get the grades they deserve.
Finding a tutor is easy. Whatever you need, you can search and filter by subject, level, price, experience and more. View our tutors, and narrow your search by subject, academic level or price. Or if you'd like expert help, book a call with our free tutor matching service. Compare their profiles to learn about their background, experience and availability. Don't forget to take a peek at their reviews from parents and students! Book a lesson (or lessons) and pay as you go. There are no hidden costs and you can skip or cancel any time.
We have our own online lesson space with video chat, messaging and an interactive whiteboard - this makes it easy for students and tutors to talk to each other, discuss tricky concepts and do practice questions together. With the live video chat, they can have a natural back-and-forth conversation - just like on FaceTime, WhatsApp and other apps teens use all the time.
Our aim is to help you to find the best tutor to achieve your goals. You can browse our Tutor search listings by visiting the browse listings. Use the search filters to help you narrow down the list based on your goals. If you have difficulties with finding a suitable tutor, feel free to contact our Customer Support Center via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our team can recommend some of the best-fit tutors for your needs.
Every tutor responds differently. We do our best to motivate our tutors to respond within 24 hours of a booking request.
Subject knowledge is a must, but being a good tutor is really about explaining difficult concepts in a way that's clear, engaging and personalised for each student. Tutors who can empathise with their students and help them build confidence help teens unleash their potential, and we see amazing results in just a few lessons.
Our tutors are from top Australian unis, and because they're just a few years older, they can explain things in a way that teens find relatable. We interview some of our tutors, and only the friendliest and most knowledgeable make it on to our platform. We're very picky about it.!
We typically send a notification to leave a review three days after the lesson and there are 7 days to respond. Please do leave a review as it is important for building trust in the Tutor Koala community.
If your lesson does not take place because there is an issue with the tutor, we will provide a full refund as long as you contact us within 12 hours of the time / date scheduled.

Yes, we require our tutors to have completed a WWCC.

You must have studied the subjects at school and achieved a suitable grade, mark or score. You can tutor a subject at University level if you are studying or have studied for a degree in that subject. You can also tutor any university admissions tests which you've sat.
No. All tutors listed on the website are not employed by us. All tutoring sessions and transactions occur between the tutor and the parent / student.
'Profile views' are the number of unique users who have recently viewed your profile, and there are a number of factors affecting how many people view your profile. Keep in mind that the subjects you offer can impact the number of profile views you get - if you teach popular subjects like Maths and Science, you’re likely to have more profile views than niche subjects. Plus, tutoring is a seasonal business, so you’re likely to get fewer views in our quieter period over the Summer. If you’re keen to get more profile views, we recommend:
Profile photo: A high quality photo will increase the chance of parents and students clicking on your profile. We recommend that you upload a well-lit, high quality photo that is taken of just yourself. A photo of you in a professional setting is a great idea - this doesn’t have to be a lecture theatre or classroom, but it’s best to avoid photos of you at the student bar, or with lots going on in the background.
Background checks: It is worth obtaining a police check. This is visibly shown on your profile and provides another level of assurance / trust.
Reviews: Deliver great lessons and encourage reviews.
As soon as you accept a booking the funds will be transferred after 3 days. Please note that for funds to be cleared they may take a few days depending on your bank. It is important that once you have accepted the booking you must complete the lesson. Failure to do so could result in you being barred from the platform.
Lessons with a can often feel intimidating to pupils: they are being tutored by someone they’ve never met before and who they probably won’t meet again. It can also be challenging to get started as a tutor, as you have to quickly discern the ability level and needs of your pupil.
